A Brisk Day At The Winter Village!

Augusten and I had a special afternoon date at the Bryant Park Winter Village today. It was so nice to do one of our favorite traditions together, and besides the masks and a LOT less people than normal years, it gave a feeling of almost, well, being normal. As we head into the final stretch of 2020, it was definitely a feeling we could both lean into and greatly appreciate.
We popped by a stand to get Augusten a white hot chocolate and ricotta pastry. I asked if I could try a sip of his beverage, and after careful consideration he responded: “I have a better idea! How about I drink it and describe it to you!” Oh Augusten, I sure am cherishing these final weeks of you being FOUR!

We watched the ice skaters and caught some sunshine on our faces before strolling around to window shop the booths. Then we did something we haven’t done since Covid started: took the subway home! It was a tender moment for us both, and I dare say brought us back to a time before Covid, before our sweet babes joined the family, before NYC (and life) changed as we knew it. Ahh. Onwards and upwards, 2020!
