An Autumn Day At A Magic Castle!

A magic castle and a secret garden all on the island of Manhattan? Yes, please!
We rounded up the gang and piled in an Uber to head to the tippy top of the borough, where a beautiful autumn day awaited.
The Cloisters holds a special place in my New York story because I lived in Inwood for my first four years in the city, back in 2005 when rents were still cheap and way before it was cool. (Did you know that, kids?;-) I would often walk Gillman to Ft. Tryon Park, where he was more interested in sitting on a bench in the Heather Gardens than playing in the ginormous dog park, in typical chihuahua style:-)
But...I digress! One of the peaks AND pits of the day was seeing a snake slither in front of us on the walking path of the gardens. Pit because it gave Augusten and I quite the fright, peak because it was our most talked about moment of the day. I can already hear dinner table conversations for the next few years...”remember that time we saw a SNAKE in NYC, mama?!”
I sure do, little man. I sure do.
