A Summer Trip To Coney Island!

As has become our seasonal tradition, Augusten and I boarded the B train for Brighton Beach for a beautiful NYC summer day. (He’s SUPER into subways these days, and memorizing which train takes you where! It’s adorable to witness:-)
We began the day foraging for goods—sea glass, shells, driftwood, bird feathers—we even saw a deceased sea turtle that was washed to shore and jellyfish. So many jellyfish. Time was held as we built a fortress with our collected wares.

A very long walk from Brighton to Coney Island happened, with a stop to our favorite pancake house. Luna Park rides were rode. The Q train was taken home. Sand was washed down the drain. Tired heads filled with beach vignettes laid down to rest. The day was a quintessential summer memory. How I love this little tradition of ours!
